“La rebelión de las lavanderas ” (The wild washerwomen) es un librito infantil muy gracioso ilustrado por Quentin Blake, el ilustrador de Roald Dahl y del librito al que tengo tanto cariño: “Atrápame si puedes“. Está editado por Altea Benjamín, libro seguro que descatalogado. Es un apena porque es una historia muy tierna, divertida, lo que nos gustaba a los críos de hace 25 años. ¡Qué fuerte!

Es la historia de un grupo de lavanderas que hartas de trabajar para su patrón, se rebelaron y se dedicaron al sembrar el pánico allá por donde iban, una especie de orfeón brutal de lavanderas cansadas de lavar y lavar por casi nada a cambio. Las peripecias y los “embolaos” en los que se meten no tiene desperdicio. Las ilustraciones de Blake ayudan y mucho. Al final sientan la cabeza y abandonan la piratería, pero dejan claro que volverán a las andadas si se les intenta volver a explotar. Es justo

Al final lavanderas y leñadores convivieron olvidando tiempos peores.

Buscadlo en UNILIBER, seguro que los niños agradecen leer estos cuentecillos tronchantes.

La catedral es una novela juvenil que tiene una temática muy parecida a los míticos títulos “los pilares de la tierra” o “la catedral del mar“.  Es una literatura muy interesante porque permite a los jóvenes introducirse en la lectura con temas similares a los llamados de adultos, y asi, cuando den el paso, la literatura no se les atragantará.

La novela transcurre en la navarra del siglo XII. Narra las aventuras del joven Telmo. Retrata una época oscura, alrededor de una catedral donde la luz siempre es tenue, en la que  tras cada muro se esconden intrigas que el joven telmo, aprendiz de albañil-mason- deberá ir sorteando

Phoebe wants to sleep. She’s in bed. She’s tired but she’s not able to fall asleep. So, she thinks that it would be fine to count sheep. So, she began to do that but one problem also started. The sheep are crazy, they’re mad all of them. They ride a motorbike, they do skying and more thing the same of unusual in a sheep. They even ignore poor Phoebe. She wants to stop that situation now, inmediately, but they are having a great fun and they don’t want to stop doing so many silly things. Please stop!, please cut it out right now!!!

It’s a really funny book, well illustrated. Poor Phoebe!!! if you want to fall asleep you must to read this hilarious story. When it finishes, the crazy sheep will come back home and you, and Phoebe will you able to sleep.

Neil Gaiman, also known as the famous writer of “American Gods”, has also some children’s books. One of them is this “Dangerous alphabet”. It contains twenty-six pictures, a picture for each word in the alphabet. They are pretty funny, where two brave brothers and their pet go into the danger in a boat. Each Word stands for an amusing situation. Amusing but also terrifying, because there are a lot of weirds creatures in such awful place.

There’s no reason to be worried about them. A nice happy end is quitely waiting for them.

Here in Spain this book is not still released to the book shops in Spanish language, but we have it in English. Is very short, funny, with great illustrations by Gris Grimly
